Josephine is best known for her role as Elizabeth in the British television series Keeping Up Appearances and as Miss Davenport in Last of the Summer Wine.
In the 1960s, as well as guest roles in popular series such as Z Cars and The Champions Josephine became a regular 'straight man' on The Charlie Drake show. From 1968 she featured in comedy sketches featuring Ronnie Corbett and Ronnie Barker in Frost on Sunday, which lead to further collaborations with Ronnie B on Hark At Barker, His Lordship Entertains, The Two Ronnies and lastly Clarence, which was to be his last starring television role before retirement.
Meanwhile, Josephine also appeared as Edna Hawkins in the first six series of the ITV sitcom Shelley before, in 1990, taking on what would become her most fondly remembered role, Elizabeth, in Keeping Up Appearances - Hyacinth Bouquets rather clumsy neighbour.
Her many other television appearances include Coronation Street, Heartbeat, Holby City, Lewis & Doctors and seven series of Last of the Summer Wine as the lustful librarian.
A hugely fun and irreverent evening of chat and memories of a fifty-year career with one of Britain’s most loved comedy actresses; from Frost On Sunday to the Two Ronnies, Shelley, Keeping Up Appearances and Last of the Summer Wine.
